I am so sick and tired of these Global Warming folks

These misconceptions about our climate have got to stop. The Earth’s climate is of such an enormous complexity that we can’t even begin to understand it. Sure, we have some notion of how things work in general, but there are an infinite number of variables that weigh in on the climate and on the weather pattern at any given location. Human activity, if it is a factor, is just ONE out of that infinite number.

And yet, every time a species dies, an ice floe breaks off, or on a windy day, inevitably the Climate Change (formerly: Global Warming) people come out of the woodwork and blame this one particular variable: humans.

Species have been going extinct all through the history of the Earth. Currently, it may have something to do with shrinking habitats, but certainly not Global Warming. 95% of all species that ever lived on Earth were extinct long before pre-humans fell out of the trees.

And what is the notion that if the water levels rise the estimated ‘7 feet3 feet that people will drown? What, you live on the coast, and you don’t notice that the water is steadily rising by 2 mm a year and someday you wake up and your bed is under water and you drown? You don’t think, that as the water rises and floods the beach, that people won’t move away from the coast?

And pray tell me, how does a temperature increase of 2-6 degrees kill people? Are people in Florida dropping like flies? The average temp is 23 there, that is a whopping 15 more than here in Ottawa. We have an average temp of 8 degrees here in Ottawa, with a 2 degree increase the average temp will be 10. Is that lethal? Are people who live in countries where the average temp is 10 degrees dying by the droves?

And is there even a temperature increase? The ‘average’ temperature on Earth is calculated from such unbelievably incorrect, inaccurate, estimated, made up, averaged temperature readings that are adjusted with vague formulas that no scientist should put any faith in them. Oh, and we’ve only been taking these ‘accurate’ readings since 1896. No data from before then exists, other than estimates from fossil records/ice cores etc. Hardly comparable.

Uh, if a hot summer is proof of global warming, is a cool summer proof of global cooling?

The eastern arctic ice is melting, yes. But the western arctic is growing. Didn’t hear about that in the news, did you? The eastern arctic ice is melting, of course being blamed on Global Warming. However, there is no mention of changing ocean currents, bringing warm currents from the equator into the eastern arctic. Nor is there talk of a range of underwater volcanoes that have been spewing out hot, flowing magma and hot air right underneath the eastern arctic. No, it is melting because of humans. Give me a break.

Why do you think Greenland is called Greenland? The Vikings were farming there. If all the ice was gone from Greenland in 1400, the ocean levels MUST have been a good 20 feet higher than they are today, right? Oh wait, they weren’t… hmm… How come they will rise the next time all the ice on Greenland melts, but didn’t the last time that occurred?

The number of hurricanes it at a 30 year low, yet everyone is screaming that Global Warming causes more hurricanes. Where’s the proof? There are not more hurricanes now, there are just more cameras to record them.

Look, there are millions and millions of people dying NOW, TODAY because of hunger, war, AIDS and other illnesses, yet the world’s governments want to spend all our money to save us from heat and rising oceans that MAY cause some people to move away from the coast or into cooler regions some 0-500 years into the future. With all that money, you could save those lives NOW, TODAY. Why spend $24.6B/yr on carbon credits to “save” a few thousand people, who live on the coast of western Europe, who MAY die far into the future, than spend that same amount of money and save millions of lives in Africa right now? Don’t you think a $24.6B/yr donation to cancer research will save a ton of lives? How about AIDS research?

You can spend 0 dollars and save more lives than any of the above: ban smoking.

Erwin, it was never about global warming. Data from any number of sources shows that the world’s average temperature has been dropping for the past ten years. Ice is rebuilding in the Arctic and Alaskan glaciers are growing.
This whole chimera was a scheme to create mass panic among the world’s populace so they would demand efforts to curb this non-existent disaster. By doing so the social engineers behind this scheme could get the western nations to transfer vast sums of money to the developing world through cap and trade shell games.
Earth is cooling and the biggest problem we face is that this cooling trend will start to shorten the growing seasons. That’s why the fear mongers have been trying to rush through all their pass-the-hat plans before the world catches on.
