Move over, Global Warming…

…and make room for Global Dimming. Yes, the Global Warmists, fresh off the Global Warming fiasco, and a fiasco it was, because, uhm, well, the Earth’s been cooling for over a decade now,  have now embraced the new threat to man-kind: Global Dimming. And what must we do to stop this infernal thing from happening? Yes, you guessed it: close all coal powered power plants, ie. conserve energy. So, to stop Global Warming we need to conserve energy, and to stop Global Dimming we need to conserve energy.

Wait a minute: if Global Dimming is blocking the sun’s rays reaching the surface of the Earth (hence: dimming), and Global Warming is trapping the sun’s rays on Earth, don’t the two negate each read more

The Pen is Mightier…

My favourite <insert expletive here> Lizzy May was interviewed by Kate Heartfield of the Ottawa Citizen this morning. Of course, she was peddling her new book, Global Warming By For Dummies, co-written by a student (!). In between the own horn tooting, she mentions this little tidbit:

I’ve already gotten in trouble for suggesting giving a copy of the book to Stephen Harper! Conservative bloggers thought this was an insult.

And there you go. Once again, we made a difference!

So where’s this “climate crisis” everyone keeps talking about?

She’s baaaack!

The last time we heard from Lizzy May, we hoped it would be the last time. But, she’s back. As Joanne over at Blue Like You reports, Lizzy May has been recorded as saying she plans to give a copy of her book “Global Warming By Dummies”, er, “Global Warming For Dummies” to PM Harper when parliament resumes.

So, not only does she think that the

Al Gore needs a new booking agent

Al Gore slammed Bush’s inaction on global warming today in a bitterly cold New York City. While the chilly air was filled with irony, Gore pulled out such classics as:

I don’t think there is any longer a credible basis for doubting that the earth’s atmosphere is heating up because of global warming

and this little doozy:

Yet in spite of the clear evidence available all around us, there are many who still do not believe that Global Warming is a problem at all. And it’s no wonder: because they are the targets of a massive and well-organized campaign of disinformation lavishly funded by polluters who are determined to prevent any action to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions that cause global warming, out read more

Like Google? You must like killing polar bears!

January 12, 2009 @ 8:55 am 1 COMMENTS

Researchers hungry for some of that climate change grant money have concluded that using Google adds some 7 grams of carbon dioxide for every search performed on the popular search engine. Google has responded and says it only produces 0.2 grams of CO2 for every search.

Regardless, using Google is extremely bad for the environment. You see, carbon dioxide, once thought to be good for plants and all life on Earth, is, of course, now believed to be the all-killing noxious super gas that warms this planet to a hot boil and forces polar bears to swim (and we all know that polar bears can’t swim) instantly killing them as their last square foot of ice floe melts away.

You use Google, you kill polar bears. read more

‘Twas the Night Before The Holidays and All the Happy Trees Were Lit

December 22, 2008 @ 11:59 am 0 COMMENTS

This is going to be my last post until after The Holidays. We’ve got the Holiday Tree up, and on Holiday’s Eve and Holiday-Day I’ll be spending my time with family (my wife, because my kids are still in Nepal) and friends (Jack Daniels).

In -32 degree weather, and another foot of snow on the way, my Winter Lights can hardly be seen, but will still give some Holiday Cheer to the poor souls braving the deep freeze and thigh high snow and walk by my house. They can also view our display of illuminated Happy Trees and PC Nativity Scene. We’ll be snug inside roasting chestnuts on an environmentally friendly fuel source and watching such holiday movies as Four Holidays and the various Holiday Specials. read more

A proof is a proof. What kind of a proof? It’s a proof. A proof is a proof. And when you have a good proof, it’s because it’s proven.

December 17, 2008 @ 4:11 pm 16 COMMENTS

Once and for all, I want to see some proof. I want to see some proof that Anthropogenic Global Warming is here and that it is an undisputable scientific fact. There are millions upon millions of people out there that truly believe it is happening and yet I have not seen one shred of evidence supporting the AGW hypothesis.

So I am issuing this challenge: send me your proof. Convince this ol’ sceptic that Global Warming is real and that it is caused by human activity. Send me your charts, measurements or historic data. Send me data that has not been altered or adjusted in any way. Send me ocean-level measurements, send me ice thickness measurements and solar activity charts. Send me anything you read more

Science Over Politics? I Think Not.

December 16, 2008 @ 9:45 am 10 COMMENTS

Barack Obama picked Steven Chu for energy secretary.  Chu is a winner of the Nobel Price for Physics in 1997 (although after this decision, I don’t know how impressed we should be with that). Steven Chu is hailed as the beginning of a new era: he’s a scientist, not a politician. Unfortunately, he’s a scientist who is an avid Global Warming believer, and as such is to be sure to implement Obama/Gore’s Climate Change policies.

In the announcement, Obama said:

“…send a signal to all that my administration will value science, make decisions based on facts and understand that facts require bold action”

See, the “bold action” in the quote above refers to Climate Change, and if something has nothing to do with science read more

Obama has teamed up with Nobel Peace Prize and Oscar winner Al Gore to, once and for all, change the climate back to where it once was, damn it! Changing the Earth’s climate? Sounds like a bad James Bond plot to me. Gore, for all his help, does not want a cabinet post, though Obama is rumoured to have offered him Secretary of Propaganda. “The Time for Denial Is Over” they proclaimed. So is the Time for Common Sense, apparently.

Time to give time the boot?

Daylight Savings Time. That incredibly inconvenient occurrence each spring and fall (do we go back, or forward?) where suddenly, for a few weeks, everybody in the world is out of sync and mass confusion ensues because not every country, or even every province, changes time on the same date. Computers are off. VCR’s are off (yes, I am of that generation). And the most depressing: that nasty event where all of a sudden you leave your place of work at the end of your day and it’s pitch dark out.

And for what? To save money?

In this cooling climate, it has now been shown that Daylight Savings Time actually COSTS money, since the power consumption is shifted from lights to heating. (I suddenly read more
