Does a Union Membership Diminish Your Brain Capacity?

About 400,000 people in Ontario are just about to lose their jobs. And that is in the auto sector alone. Thousands upon thousands of people are worried that they’ll be jobless within the year. I myself am worried if I still have a job (or a company for that matter) at the end of next year, since our company supplies, amongst others, GM and Chrysler (I am btw disappointed the government has a bail-out plan for the big three AMERICAN companies operating in Ontario–throwing money at a bad company isn’t going to save it, they will have to change structurally first, starting with the unions).

Against this depressing backdrop, several unions are currently on strike for things ordinary people would only wish read more

Ms. May is in Poland — can she stay there, please?

While the mercury in Ottawa got stuck overnight at -32 (I hear it is going to be -38 over in Calgary), a senior Environment Canada scientist is blasting the federal government for causing a “public embarrassment for Canada” by preventing him from organizing a world gathering of experts on global warming. Don MacIver is the director of the Adaptation and Impacts Research Division at EC and was chairing a committee for the WMO (World Meteorological Organization) at the UN climate change summit in Poland, the same summit where Elizabeth May is peddling her Global Warming For Dummies book. Senior bureaucrats scrapped the trip in a cost-cutting measure. I agree, sending our “scientists” to false UN summits on subjects that don’t exist is read more

For all you boomers out there:

Is “Determined Determination” the same as “Entitled to our Entitlements”?

December 11, 2008 @ 12:03 pm 16 COMMENTS

While Martha Hall Findlay wiped the tears from her eyes, the World’s Seventh Intellect (is this the same as “Canada’s Foremost Thinker” to describe a certain GG husband?) stumbled in his first speech yesterday. “Determined determination” must be the epitome of smartness. So utter intellectual that simple folks like you or I would almost think it doesn’t make any sense. But I suppose there are only about six people in the world who could come up with better phrasing, so who are we to complain?

It also seems that the World’s Seventh Intellect likes the smell of manure. He’s such a farm-boy, our little Iggy. Doesn’t he look like he could, at any given time, peal off his suit like Superman, reveal his dirty coveralls underneath, grab read more

A Week of Craziness, and it’s Only Wednesday!

Obama has teamed up with Nobel Peace Prize and Oscar winner Al Gore to, once and for all, change the climate back to where it once was, damn it! Changing the Earth’s climate? Sounds like a bad James Bond plot to me. Gore, for all his help, does not want a cabinet post, though Obama is rumoured to have offered him Secretary of Propaganda. “The Time for Denial Is Over” they proclaimed. So is the Time for Common Sense, apparently.

While CTV is misleading viewers by showing images of a smallish Toronto pro-rally with Dion as “speaker” with a big heading saying: “Rally in Ottawa” (the heading was referring to the on-the-phone reporter reporting from Ottawa), and Global is showing us an interesting story on how coalitions work so well throughout the world and specifically how Arabs and Jews are having just a grand ol’ time in Israel with their coalition, I returned from the rally in Ottawa where there were at least 5000 people, to find CTV Newsnet calling it “hundreds”.

You Fumbled the Tape, Mr. Amateur

Cheapo web-cam with manual focus: $20

Hire film student to direct movie: $10 (hey, ten bucks is ten bucks)

Rent parents’ basement to make your home movie: $100

Office chair with a back so high it makes you look like you’re a child: $500

Managing to piss off all of Canada’s news anchors as well as your partners and make your coalition the laughing stock of the nation: priceless.

Do you t’ink it’s easy to deliver a tape to the media?

December 3, 2008 @ 8:15 pm 17 COMMENTS

Staffer: Mr. Dion, we have to deliver this tape, we’re late!
Dion: Can we start over?
Staffer: No, Lloyd is waiting for it…
Dion: Is he waiting for it now? Or next Tuesday?

That’s funny, I don’t recall seeing “Libs/NDP/Bloc Coalition” on the ballot the last time I voted.

I don’t know what is scarier: Dion as PM, Jack in cabinet, Gilles holding the balance of power or Miss May being Environment Minister.

Dion isn’t PM material… he’s not even party leader material. Jack wouldn’t know an economic measure if it jumped up and bit him in the ass, Gilles is happy to break up the country, and May is just a looney-toon, who once said she, as environment minister, would close all coal and nuclear plants immediately, effectively shutting down 72% of Ontario’s power output.
